Cedar Springs, Michigan is the Red Flannel Capital of the World and features flannel factory tours, a museum, and a local ordinance which states that anyone not wearing red flannel on Red Flannel Day (the first Saturday in October) is subject to arrest.
Michigan adopted its state flag in 1911. On its blue background, the national motto is accompanied in the Michigan arms by the slogans, "I Shall Defend" and "If You Seek a Pleasant Peninsula, Look Around You." A moose, an elk, an eagle, and nature scenes are also present in the design.
